Project News

We are planning to produce our third Historic Lathom booklet, about the World War 1 Remount Depot at Lathom Park, ready for sale before the end of the year. We have amassed a lot of material and pictures – thanks to all the volunteers who have helped in so many ways. Information about the railway line to the Depot has been found, as well as some details of the parkland used by the War Department. The book will be 50 pages with both text and illustrations and photos, some in colour. We hope we can fit everything into it! Even at this late stage, if you know of any more history, or have any more photos or postcards, do please let us know.

Annual General Meeting 2008

We held our AGM on 26th February at Briars Hall Hotel – with a full house! - and managed to get through the business part of the evening in record time!

After that, we were treated to a wonderfully interesting illustrated talk about "Lathom House – the Northern Court" given by Dr. Jennifer Lewis. This gave us an insight into perhaps how the fortified original Lathom House might have looked, based on examples of remains of castles still standing today. More research for a possible project is being planned.
